Clinical Research Day 2013 at the NIH

The National Institutes of Health will host Clinical Research Day 2013 on April 10, 2013, on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.  The event will highlight the NIH Clinical Center's expanded engagement with extramural investigators interested in clinical research, as well as other opportunities for clinical/translational research at the NIH.  The NIH believes that providing external scientists with access to its Clinical Center will stimulate a broader range of research and serve as a catalyst for a national effort to nourish scientists with clinical training.

The NIH Clinical Center is the nation's largest hospital dedicated to research.  Its unique resources include a 240-bed hospital and research facility with more than 1,500 clinical research protocols underway.  Extramural scientists now can tap into the Clinical Center through a program called "Opportunities for Collaborative Research at the NIH Clinical Center," detailed at http://www.cc.nih.gov/translational-research-resources/U01.

Clinical researchers also can join the intramural program through a range of initiatives, including as independent investigators through the NIH Lasker Clinical Research Scholars program (see http://www.nih.gov/science/laskerscholar) and the Stadtman Investigator tenure-track search, and as Assistant Clinical Investigators for mentored research.  The NIH intramural research program is home to more than 1,100 tenured and tenure-track investigators and approximately 4,000 postdoctoral trainees; see http://irp.nih.gov for more information.

Scheduled Events

Clinical Research Day 2013 will begin at 8:30 am in Lipsett Amphitheater, Building 10. Scheduled speakers include:
