Neuro Infectious Disease Interest Group

Goals: The Neuro Infectious Disease Interest Group serves as a forum for exchange of ideas for projects related to research on the effects of HIV and other infections on the brain and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for these infections. This occurs in the form of monthly meetings where intramural investigators will make presentations in the form of research seminars with ample time for discussion. To foster such interactions, these presentations are preceded by a 30-minute social time where researchers will have an opportunity to interact in a more relaxed manner. The forum also invites select extramural investigators from other institutions to come and present their findings as well. Once a year our group will hold a retreat.

Meetings: 3rd Wed of each month (10:00-11:30 a.m.)

Retreat: last week of February each year

Composition: This is a trans-NIH group that is composed of researchers with a wide range of expertise from several different Institutes and Centers. Additionally program officers and other personnel from each of the institutes who are involved in setting direction for research related to HIV infection of the nervous system and other CNS infections are also part of this Interest Group.
